Slime Care
A small packet of borax (1 tsp.), and directions are included with every purchase of slime, but here are the basics of caring for your slime you need to know.
Sticky/Liquid-y/Melted Slime
Mix the borax with one cup of hot water, and stir until the solution is crystal clear. Then add the borax solution only a few drops at a time, mix, and repeat until your slime is the desired consistency.
You can store the extra borax solution for later, but make sure to mark it clearly as not safe drinking water!
Hard/Not stretchy Slime
For opaque slimes, add lotion and mix in until your slime is the desired stretchiness. For clear based slimes, do the same but with baby oil.
Won't come out of the container in one piece
Sadly, I'm not sure how to permanently fix this problem, and it can be extremely annoying. This typically tends to happen with stickier slimes like clear slime and floam. What I try to do to prevent this from happening is bottle the slime with a bit of activator in the container, and store my slime in a cold, dry space. If it arrives like this, try adding a teeny bit of activator, and then pull as much of the slime out as you can, and work it to a handle able consistency. Then take a small piece to the inside of the container, and use it to clean up the slime stuck to the container. I know it's kind of tedious, and is a super annoying problem. But if anybody finds out how other slimers get their slime not to stick, please let me know!
The beads keep falling out!
For any slime with foreign objects in it like beads, large glitter, etc., the slime has to be a little stickier than usual. Adding too much borax solution can easily cause beads to fall out. To fix this, keep your slime untouched and sealed up for a few days or so, then test the consistency again. If it's being stubborn, you can try adding a bit of glue at a time and mixing it in thoroughly.
Extra note: Be careful not to leave your slimes exposed to air for extended periods of time, that includes when it's being played with. It's made of glue, and in the case of butter slime, air dry clay. So it definitely dries up after a certain amount of time. There's no way to fix a dried up slime!
No matter how well you cherish and love your slimes, there will come a time when they need to be thrown out from being played with and exposed to air too much. It's sad, but true. But get as much fun and relaxation out of your slime as you can first!
